Definition

Chemical element symbol Y, 88,905 atomic mass and atomic number 39. Yttrium is the rare-earth group. This molecule is used in its stable form (i.e. non-radioactive) for the operation of certain lasers known as YAG (yttrium and aluminum Garnet laser). It is mostly ophthalmologists, respirologists and gastroenterologists who use this range of laser. Rheumatology, yttrium is used in its radioactive form, (yttrium 90) practice of synoviorthèses. It is the treatment of inflammatory joint disease, with an injection of product made in the joint. This injection is designed to destroy the synovial (membrane lining the inside of the joint) patient. Garnet is a natural mineral of great hardness.
