Tübingen (ddp). Brutal films and computer games promote violence by young people. A study of the University of Tübingen proves this long disputed among scientists context now apparently with several hundred Hauptschülern from Bavaria. The readiness to violence over the years with an increasing use of medial violence rose with them. This is the greatest danger in the use of violent computer games, as reported by the College. The study included two questionnaires. In the first over 650 students indicated between 12 and 14 years of age, how often they were confronted with violence in media as a child. In addition, the current use of violence-containing media was considered. This referendum was repeated two years later. In addition, the kids were asked how they would decide on the use of force in certain conflict situations. The evaluations have shown a link between the use of horror and violence movies in early years and the willingness to use violence. According to Professor Günter Huber, one of the participating psychologists, it is in investigating the first German longitudinal study has examined the impact of use of media glorify violence in the long term. So far, the findings on cross-cutting studies would have gefußt, which had only selectively can analyze the attitude of young people to violence and violent films and computer games. Also these cross-cutting studies already showed a link between the consumption of so-called killer games and an increased willingness to use violence. But critics argued that the causal relationship could be also a reverse, namely that the penchant for violent films was only the result of a violent personality. The Tübingen longitudinal study now shows that there were the media, violence-prone made young people, said Huber, the news agency ddp. At the same time, the psychologist said that rarely was a «mono integrated» link. Rather, other factors such as the climate in family and school, as well as some personality traits in the development of young people played a role. However, the negative impact of the aggressive potential of some young people glorify violence media was «very significant» Huber stressed.
