London (ddp). People with respiratory problems when sleeping should take lessons in playing didgeridoo: Swiss researchers could now show who regularly play the Australian wind instrument, snores less and less frequently suffers from nighttime breathing skips,. The observed positive effect was probably based on a strengthening of the muscles of the upper respiratory tract, the scientists say the Zurich mountain clinic forest. Thus it comes less frequently to the nightly collapse of the respiratory system, what else is the reason for the short-term respiratory arrest, Milo Puhan and his colleagues in the journal write «British medical journal» (doi: 10.1136/bmj.38705.470590.55). The Swiss study 25 volunteers participated, who suffered from the so called obstructive sleep apnea. At night several times, it comes to a temporary closure of the upper respiratory tract, whereupon the dormant responds with increased respiratory movements. Ultimately, these secreted in loud snoring, then starts the whole thing from scratch. In their study, Swiss scientists 14 of their patients prescribed daily didgeridoo classes, while the remaining eleven volunteers formed the control group. After four months, the researchers examined how regular music had affected the sleep problems. The result: When the didgeridoo Group occurred when compared to the control group less nightly respiratory suspended and the performers were sleepy during the day less. Benefited from didgeridoo playing but not only the 14 respondents itself, but also their partners: You were disturbed at night much less frequently now in their sleep by annoying snoring noises of the accessory bed.
