-Companies of the drug (Leem) believe that the reform of the drug, presented Monday, August 1 by the Minister of health Xavier Bertrand, represents a threat to the patient access to therapy. The Leem point more particularly of the finger at the creation of “procedures to curb patients access to new drugs, and the prohibition of the individual medical hospital”.
If the drug companies appreciate the intention of the Minister of health to benefit of the doubt to all patients, not laboratories, they regret however that the reform proposals “seriously undermine access to innovative medicines to patients who need”.
In detail, the Leem considers that restrictions on the temporary user permissions (ATU), a procedure providing for some patients the opportunity to receive treatment not yet been on the market, will prevent patients take drugs “in development” that could “provide an effective therapeutic response when all alternatives have failed”.
“For the sick, these brakes to the emergence of innovative medicines will result in a loss of opportunity so that the access of the French innovation, in a maximum efficiency of our health care system, must remain a priority”, concludes the Leem. “Next”.
