Münster – if couples by artificial insemination want to come to a child, the man should keep themselves of cigarettes. As the “focus” reports, researchers of the Institute for reproductive medicine in Münster, Germany have found that smoking reduces the chances of success of a treatment by almost half. It is for the in vitro fertilization in a test tube as well as for the direct injection into the egg. A study on 301 pairs showed that 32 partners of non-smokers by a test tube procreation were pregnant. When the smoker partners, there were only 18 percent. Injection getting brought similar success rates: 38 percent in non smoking men, otherwise 22 per cent. (vth)
