Overweight: Fast every second adult too thick

Wiesbaden (Reuters) – almost every second adult in Germany is overweight. In May 2003, a survey showed that 49 percent of men and women have a «body mass index», which is above the value 25 – definition of the World Health Organization the criterion for overweight. This shares by the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden. The index is calculated by dividing the weight of a person by their height squared. 48 Percent of adults as overweight were been classified in a similar survey in 1999. Men are overweight currently in all age groups significantly more affected than women: total a «body mass index» of more than 25 is available the survey according to 58 percent of the men, but only at 41% of women.
