ONCOTAM Tamoxifen tablets in 10 and 20 mg. Action
Drug of the family of the antiestrogens: it blocks the action of estrogen, which is to stimulate breast tissue (breast) and uterus.
Tamoxifen reproduced in some way the mechanism of natural menopause but not in the same way. Indeed, if menopause is a decrease in the secretion of estrogen, tamoxifen does not diminish this secretion but prevent these hormones have an any action on the breast and uterus.

Indication
Treatment of abnormal breast development.

Dosage
20 to 40 mg / day in 1 or 2 taken.

Contraindications
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Use of oral contraceptives containing estrogen

Adverse effects
• Thrombo-Embolic accident (phlebitis, pulmonary embolism)
• Anomaly of the blood count formula: NFS (number of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets)
• Pancreatic impairment
• Increase in transaminases (enzymes released by the liver in lesions of it)
• Increase in triglycerides
• Hot flashes
• For development of the endometrium (layer cells covering the inside of the uterus) that may result in intermittent bleeding
• Breast pain
• Nausea
• White losses
• Pruritis (itching)
• Water retention
• Vision problems

Precautions in use
Regular, more specifically gynecological, monitoring by a medical team is required.
• The increase in the variety of lipids (fats) triglycerides in the blood
• History of pulmonary embolism (presence of blood clot in the arteries of the lung apparatus)
• History of phlebitis (blood clot in the veins presence)? require monitoring and precautions of use.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Tamoxifen is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Drug interactions
The association with anticoagulants requires close monitoring
