Berlin (ddp). The number of measles infections has increased dramatically. According to a report published on Wednesday in advance of the consumer magazine of «Good Council» (August issue), the Robert Koch Institute registered 383 cases of infection compared to 51 in the previous year in the first 18 weeks of this year. The childhood illness is by no means harmless, but life-threatening circumstances. «The measles viruses can trigger an encephalitis.» “That can be fatal”, warns the Berlin pediatrician Gisela Kühn.
