Definition

Study of malaria. Malaria returned in infestation (and not from an infection that is the penetration of microbes (viruses, bacteria, fungus) in the body). Malaria is a parasitic infectious disease due to infestation by a hematozoa (bodies composed of a single cell, part of a particular type of Protozoan) that there are four species of the genus plasmodium:

  • Plasmodium falciparum
  • Plasmodium malariae
  • Plasmodium vivax
  • Plasmodium ovale

The plasmodium is inoculated by the bite of female mosquitoes infested. These mosquitoes belong to various varieties of Anopheles. Anopheles is a small insect, winged (Diptera), with a larva which multiplies in the backwaters, and belonging to the family culicidae. Culicidae are a family of Diptera insects comprising three main subfamilies:

  • The anophélinés
  • The Ædinés
  • Culicidae

There are several varieties of Anopheles, but it is Anopheles maculipennis is the most common. After passing by the liver, parasites enter red blood cells and cause their break-up (hemolysis) causing anemia. This result was a rise in temperature (febrile access). Malaria is specifically found in tropical countries, but it is the most common disease in the world. It causes approximately 2 million deaths each year and particularly affects young children.
