Lipanor is a drug designed to decrease the rate of lipids in the blood, containing of ciprofibrate in the form of beige and brown capsule box of 30, 65% reimbursed by social security.

Lipanor is a drug with properties hypolipémiantes the ability to lower the rate of bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) that circulates in the blood, manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis France laboratories.

Indications
Hypercholesterolemia (excess cholesterol in the blood).
Cholesterol is a lipid (of greasy nature) complex substance present in oils and fats of animal origin. Cholesterol is both from food and manufactured directly by the liver, intestines and adrenal cortical glands (glands located above each kidney).
Hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia can be isolated or associated (type II A, II B., 3 and 4) while pursued properly adapted plan for 3 to 6 months has not produced the expected results.

Dosage
This drug should be preferentially taken during meals.
In adults the usual dosage is indicated by the doctor. Generally it is a capsule a day. According to the results of blood it is sometimes necessary to increase the doses of ciprofibrate.

Precautions in use
It is necessary to monitor the levels of creatinine in the blood (creatinine) and that of transaminases (ALT, AST).
Need fear a muscle toxicity, suspected in patients with diffuse myalgia (muscle pain), Myositis (muscle inflammation), cramps and muscle weakness and/or significant elevations of the KPC (> 5 times the upper limit of normal). In these cases, treatment with rosuvastatin will have to be stopped.

The Lipanor during pregnancy and breastfeeding safety has not been established.

Drug interactions
Patients taking rosuvastatin must not absorb another hypolipidemic drug. Indeed, there is a risk of potentiation and therefore of the effects of addition between the two drugs.
Other drugs, in particular Cyclosporin, should not be taken concomitantly with the Lipanor.
The intake of antacids (antiulcer), evaluated (pills and treatment of menopause), drug containing erythromycin, oral anticoagulant drugs must be taken with suspicion at the same time as the Lipanor.
