-As gastroenteritis activity ahead in France, including among children less than 6 years, the Institute for prevention and education (Inpes) launches a brochure to enable parents to reduce the risk of dehydration, first danger associated with acute diarrhea, in their young children. Known as the Diarrhé of the young child, avoid dehydration, this guide is available at paediatricians, general practitioners, pharmacists, nurseries, or even the family allowance funds. <br /> Through this booklet, the Inpes wishes to warn parents about the risks associated with dehydration in a period of acute diarrhea in infants and young children. The French organization recommends including parents wash their hands every time that they treat or deal with their child.
The Inpes also invites parents and responsible adults to young children to offer regularly (several times per hour) a so-called solution of oral rehydration (SRO) to the children concerned. Parents may purchase bags of this specific solution in pharmacies.
In times of acute diarrhea, also should be cooking foods generally appreciated by the sick child or to continue feeding for breastfeeding. Last point, the parents must monitor the number of stools, temperature, vomiting and the amount of solutions of rehydration and food until the end of the disease.
