Definition

The word diaper refers to the red colour of the skin due to irritation of the buttocks of the infant.

Causes

Outside the traditional causes:

  • Irritation of the skin of the buttocks or the fold of the groin due to friction of the layers.
  • Infection by the fungus (controversy)
  • Stool acidity (child who allète)
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Causticitté some SOAP or cream

There are other causes:

  • Seborrheic Dermatitis of infants
  • Psoriasis
  • Histiocytosis X
  • Leiner-Moussous disease
  • Streptococcal cellulitis
  • Acrodermatitis entéropathique érythématosquameuse

Symptoms

The skin is more or less red sometimes cracked and oozing. The abdomen is sometimes affected by skin irritation and the external genitalia.The location of skin irritation is directly dependent on the cause of the irritation.

Complications of the disease

In some infants Erythema is complicated to ulceration (loss of substance as small skin wound) that generally reflect the presence of a microbial infection.

Treatment

  • Common toilet seat.
  • Especially let dry baby open buttocks (or use a dryer).
  • Avoid talc that promotes the macèraton among others.
  • The protective zinc oxide ointment sometimes promotes maceration.
  • Badigeonneage 2% aqueous eosin wound.

Prevention

Avoid leaving a room layer.
