See also agueusie L’électrogustométrie is a review for recherhcer of different specific areas of language deficits. It is practiced in case d’agueusie, c’est to say of partial or total loss of taste. Anomalies of the gustatory sensitivity are more rare than the sense of smell (sense of smell). The basic flavours are:

• The salt
• L’Amer
• The sweet
• L’ACIDE

Generally, l’agueusie combines two types of Pathology: the bad or non-perception of l’odorat (also called anosmia), and an achievement of the overall sensitivity of the mouth. L’agueusie (only not associated with an anosmia) is rare. There are complete l’agueusie, where l’individu is unable to recognize the four tastes, and partial l’agueusie. Causes

• Facial paralysis
• Achievement of certain nerves of the face with injury:
• facial nerve at the level of the mastoid (os located near l’oreille)
• cord, the eardrum
• the glossopharyngeal nerve
• Sjögren’s syndrome (combining a dry mouth and eyes)
• Viral infection of the mouth
• Treatment with radiotherapy at the level of the mouth or pharynx
• Hormonal dysregulation
• Some cancers
• Advanced age
• Side effects of medications:
• conversion l’enzyme inhibitors (used in the treatment of arterial l’hypertension)
• derivatives sulfhydrilés such as penicillamine, pyritinol, the tiopronin
• Some heavy metals poisoning
• Bacterial infection of the areas for the perception of taste at the level of language (gustatory pore)
• Vascular disorders
• Suite of trauma (injury of central nervous system)
• Psychiatric disorders

Diagnosis in addition l’électrogustométrie, can practise:

• A psycho-physical examination of taste and l’olfaction is necessary: it will measure the thresholds of sensitivity of taste in the mouth for each of the four flavours. This is achieved by ingest small amounts of products containing various dilutions of the flavours, and with the language of the subject of products to test.
• Biopsy (sample) of papillae which will allow, in the near future, through a review developed, better classify gustatory disorders.

Treatment remains limited.

• Use of artificial saliva in patients with salivary deficiency
• Treatment of oral infections
• Dental treatment
• Judgment of the (previously cited) drugs
• Use of zinc
• Use of certain vitamins (including l’efficacité n’est) however not established
