[Brief] Agreement of the European Commission for the treatment of cancers of the stomach by Herceptin

The European Commission gave approval for the use of the biotherapy Herceptin marketed by Roche, in combination with chemotherapy in patients with metastatic “HER2-positive” stomach cancer. This approval follows the results of testing ToGA showing that treatment with Herceptin prolongs considerably the life of patients with cancer of the stomach. The results of this test revealed that the survival of patients with a high level of protein HER2 was 16 months with Herceptin treatment, against 11.8 months for patients receiving only chemotherapy. “Next”.
