Berlin – since the late of 1980s has declined significantly in Germany the pollution caused by dioxins. This impacted positively on the charge of the food and the health of people. This shows the database “DIOXINS”, which is operated jointly by the Federal Environment Agency and the Federal Institute for consumer health protection. As the Berlin “Tagesspiegel” reported, there about ten thousand samples of soil, waste, air, biological and chemical substances are covered. The analysis shows that the peak was approximately halved since the early of 1990s in the winter. Also the dietary dioxin intake has decreased in this period by half to about 0.7 trillionth grams per kilogram of body weight. As well, the content in breast milk by about 60 percent has declined. Experts urge plead despite the encouraging result for a further reduction of dioxin. (vth)
