Breast implants: Silicone remains banned in United States

Washington (CNN) – breast implants made of silicone remain banned in the United States. The food and Drug Administration FDA turned down the request of a party for authorisation on the grounds after media reports Friday that there were no secure information, why some gel sachets death and caused what damage the silicone in breast tissue. Silicone to breast enlargement is prohibited in contrast to many other countries – since 1992 in the United States. Implants containing saline are allowed. While it would tear them just as often, said FDA expert David Feigal of the «Washington Post». The health risks are but lower than those by silicone. In the United States, approximately 230 000 breast enlargement operations were carried out last year.
