An end to the strike: doctors approve tariff for communal clinics

Berlin (ddp). The first own collective agreement for doctors at local hospitals is finally sealed. In the Marburger Bund organized physician’s medical Union took to the compromise in a ballot with 87 per cent, as the Chairman Frank Ulrich Montgomery announced on Wednesday in Berlin. On 17 August after achtwöchigem industrial action, the Union had reached an agreement with the Association of municipal employer associations (VKA). Salary increases are 10 to 13 percent, as well as improvements in the working hours and the remuneration of rest and on-call time. The tariff compromise is the first own lump to the municipal Clinic physicians. Until the autumn of 2005 they were been represented by the Trade Union ver.di. Montgomery spoke on Wednesday of a «drastic orientations». The Marburger Bund have broken traditional collective rituals as effective specialist trade union. The Union is now pushing for medical-specific collective agreements also in the Church and private hospitals in Germany. The conclusion of costs according to the VKA municipal hospitals every year more than 500 million euros. Many clinics were abandoned in response to the conclusion from the tariff binding. So, only 3 of the 15 municipal hospitals are tariff-bound in Brandenburg, Germany. The VKA also announced restrictions on patient care.
