AMOXICILLIN 500 mg EG Amoxicillin in tablet, capsule or powder for oral suspension Action
Amoxicillin is an antibacterial in the beta-lactam antibiotics of the Group of the aminopenicillins family.

Indications
Antibacterial used in the treatment of:
• Otitis media
• Acute bronchitis
• Acute lung disease
• Chronic bronchitis
• Digestive and biliary infection
• Sinusitis
• Genital infection
• Urinary tract infection
• Angina
• Bacterial Endocarditis
• Eradication of Helicobacter in combination with clarithromycin or the imidazolés
• Oral infection
• Lyme disease
• Endocarditis (treatment of René)

Dosage
Adult: 1 to 2 g per day divided into 2 or 3
Child of less than 30 months: 50 to 100 mg / kg / day three taken eight hours apart.
Child over 30 months: 25 to 50 mg / kg / day in two or three catch no more than 3 g per day.
Septicaemia and endocarditis, the dosage is sometimes increased to 150 mg / kg / day in 3 or 4 taken without however exceeding 6 g per day.
In angina Streptococcus child over 30 months, it is necessary to do some processing of 6 days the dosage of 50 mg / kg / day in two.

Contraindications
• Infectious Mononucleosis
• Allergy to antibiotics (penicillin and cephalosporin) Beta-lactam as well as one of the constituents of the medicinal product
• Phenylketonuria (due to the presence of aspartam)

Warnings
• Risk of occurrence of allergy
• Need for adequate water intake
• Risk of occurrence of severe anaphylactic hypersensitivity
• Utility to adjust the dose in renal failure
• Occurrence of Jarisch Herxheimer reaction treatment of Lyme disease

This medicine contains sodium: it is necessary to be considered in patients with hypertension or salt-free diet.

Amoxicillin should not be associated with the following drugs:
• Methotrexate
• Allopurinol (risk of skin reaction)

Precautions
• Possible interference: determination of total protein in serum by colour reaction
• Diabetes especially, amoxicillin may reduce the results of measurements of blood glucose
• Amoxicillin may give a false positive colour reaction in assays of glycosuria semi-quantitative method color
• Precautions are needed in the case of renal failure
• With respect to the injectable preparation, the solvent should not be used in children under 3 years old because it contains benzyl alcohol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
This drug is discouraged during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Adverse effects
• Allergic manifestation
• Nausea
• Pemphigoid or exfoliative Dermatitis
• Digestive disorders
• Vomiting
• Erythema Multiforme
• Eruption skin Papulosa Eruptiva maculo
• Stevens Johnson syndrome
• Pseudomembranous colitis
• Acute interstitial nephritis
• Diarrhea (this is the case for many antibiotics). If significant diarrhea occurs during the days following the introduction of antibiotic treatment, the must is stopped)
• Candidiasis
• Reversible thrombocytopenia
• Increase in moderate and transient transaminases
• Anemia
• Leukopenia

Note
Hyperthermia (fever) decrease or disappearance of the symptoms should not stop the treatment. Indeed, there is a risk of the germ in the antibiotic resistance.
