2010 Immunization schedule: recommendations for the main five vaccines

Posted by: Alaina Hadlock  |  Category: News  |  Views: 0

-The High Council of health public (HCSP) and the Technical Committee of vaccinations (CTV) sent new recommendations for vaccination against meningococcus C, invasive pneumococcal infections and measles. Published in the weekly epidemiological Bulletin (BEH) of the Institute for sanitary Watch (InVS) this Thursday, April 22, these new indications are accompanied by traditional recommendations for main vaccines.
As a bite of reminder, here are the usual recommendations for five vaccines critical to prevention of many diseases.

Vaccination against the DTPolio
First vaccination comprising three injections for diphtheria, tetanus and polio must be compulsorily carried out at the age of 2, 3 and 4 months, followed by a reminder between 16 and 18 months. While callbacks are required up to 13 years for polio, reminders for tetanus and diphtheria are recommended to 6 years and 11-13 years with a vaccine designed with Valencia acellular pertussis (DTCaPolio). The HCSP recommends also reminders to all 10 years from 16-18 years.

Vaccination against whooping cough
Initially, infants must receive three injections performed a month apart followed by a reminder to 16-18 months. At the high incidence of cases of pertussis in very young infants, children 11-13 years need a reminder directed at the same time as the third recall DTPolio. Children did not conduct this recall to 11-13 years old will have to perform a catch-up at 16-18 years of age. Pertussis vaccination is recommended for adults likely to become parents or part of the entourage of a pregnant woman or of an infant.

Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) infections
Vaccination against the human papillomavirus, responsible for sexually transmitted infections, mainly for young girls. Routine vaccination is recommended for girls aged 14 years to prevent infections before they are exposed. The HCSP and the CTV favours the quadrivalent vaccine to the bivalent vaccine. The vaccine is also proposed to young women of 15 to 23 years had never had sexual relations or the year after the first reports.

Varicella vaccination
Varicella vaccination should be subject to the injection of two doses with an interval of at least one month between the 1st and 2nd dose. Essentially, this vaccination is recommended for adolescents aged 12 to 18 years with no clinical varicella history and for women with a pregnancy without clinical history of varicella project. It is also preferable that children candidates recipients in the registry and adults over 18 years exposed to chickenpox are vaccinated against the disease.

Vaccination against flu
Vaccination against seasonal influenza is primarily recommended for persons over 65 years. Nevertheless, the HCSP and the CTV recommend vaccination for people with chronic, of serious or serious chronic kidney cardiac deficiencies broncho-pulmonary conditions, persons allowed in a facility of health for a medium or long stay, and the family circle infants under 6 months with risk factors for influenza serious, namely infants with congenital heart disease and prematurepulmonary or neurological pathologies or long disease duration. 2010 Immunization schedule recommends vaccination against seasonal flu to HIV-infected people.
Please note, the HCSP stressed that recommendations for the vaccine against influenza A (H1N1) are “specific” and “evolutionary”. They are therefore not included in the immunization schedule 2010. “Next”.
